History
Before European settlement, Victoria was originally home to Aboriginal population that had living in the land for thousands of years. Aboriginal people have lived in Victoria for about 40,000 years, living a semi-nomadic existence of hunting, farming and fishing. In 1836, after the first Europeans settled in this region, the area became part of the colony of New South Wales, known as the Port Phillip District. The British Empire formed the government from 1851 to 1901, it became colony of Victoria. Kilmore is the Victoria's oldest inland town.
