New Orleans was founded in 1718 by French colonists, was once the territorial capital of French Louisiana before becoming part of the United States in the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. New Orleans is an economic and commercial hub for the Gulf Coast region of the United States. New Orleans due to its prominent role in the film industry and in pop culture it has been known as Hollywood South. Greater New Orleans, is a metropolitan statistical area designated by the US Census Bureau.

NewOrleans-Metairie-Hammond CSA includes eight parishes: Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist and St. Tammany, additionally Tangipahoa and Washington parishes were added in the NewOrleans-Metairie-Hammond CSA, Greater New Orleans estimated population in 2019 is over 1.5 million.
