Richmond is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Virginia, located 21.69 miles north of Petersburg, 44 miles west of Williamsburg, 66.10 miles southeast of Charlottesville, 79.24 miles northwest of Norfolk of Virginia State, 96.87 miles south of Washington, D.C., and 138.72 miles northeast of Raleigh, North Carolina. Richmond is the part of Greater Richmond Region, the Richmond metropolitan area or Central Virginia. Neighborhoods of Richmond city include Fawnbrook, Broad Rock, Cherry Gardens, Cullenwood, and Beaufont Hills on the south side, Azalea, Barton Heights, Bellevue, Chamberlayne, Ginter Park, Highland Park, and Rosedale are on the north side. Richmond ranks forty-second most dangerous cities in Virginia.
