Before the existence of European explorers in 1542, The area of San Diego has been inhabited by the Native Americans of Kumeyaay tribe, Indigenous Kumeyaay people had been living in the area for as long as 12,000 years along the sides of San Diego River. The San Diego of California colonization began in 1769 with the arrival of four contingents of Spaniards from New Spain and also the Baja California peninsula in the same year a mission was established and gradually expanded into settlement. In 1821, Mexico achieved independence from Spain, San Diego becomes part of the Mexican province of Alta California. In 1840 the population of San Diego is 140 people. San Diego is a very small town for several decades until 1880 and the population is 2,637, later it grew rapidly after World Wars due to development and the establishment of various military facilities.
