Clarksville is the city in Tennessee State of United States, located on the northwest edge of the Highland Rim, which surrounds the Nashville Basin and is 45 miles northwest of Nashville. Clarksville population in 2024 is estimated to be 175,435, covers city area of 95.5 square miles (247 sq km), ranks fifth largest city in Tennessee State behind Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, one-hundred-fifty-ninth city in the United States. Under General George Washington during the American Revolutionary War, Clarksville was selected as a town to be settled in part by soldiers, At the end of the war, the federal government lacked funds to repay the soldiers, In 1790, The land was used to be settled by the families of soldiers as repayment of service to their country. By 1870, the population of Clarksville is 3,200 people.
