Corpus Christi is a Texas city on the Gulf of Mexico, located 130 miles southeast of San Antonio. In 1519, The city name Corpus Christi was given to the settlement and surrounding bay by Spanish explorer Alonso Alvarez de Pineda, Spanish explorer discovered on the Western Christian feast day of Corpus Christi. Due to high wind speeds, Corpus Christi is one of the popular cities for wind surfing, sailing, kiteboarding and kite flying.
