Elizabeth population as per 2020 census is 137,298 compared to 2010 population of 124,969 with the increase number of 12,329 people and growth of 9.9 percent. Elizabeth, originally called Elizabeth town and part of the Elizabethtown Tract, was founded in 1664 by English settlers, named for Elizabeth, wife of Sir George Carteret. The City of Elizabeth was created On March 13, 1855, by an act of the New Jersey Legislature.
