Garland is a city in the Texas State of United States, located northeast of Dallas, within Dallas, Collin and Rockwall Counties. Garland population in 2024 is estimated to be 246,889, covers city area of 57.25 sq mi (148.29 sq km), ranks twelfth most populous city in Texas State and ninety-third populous city in United States. Garland is a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area. Garland's city is a cultural center in North Texas, It is one of the largest manufacturing cities in the Texas state with more than 300 manufacturers. By 1980, Garland had one of the lowest poverty rates of US cities in the country. Garland had a multiple category of industries, including oilfield equipment, hat manufacture, dairy products, electronics, steel fabrication and food processors.

Garland History

By 1800 people started arriving in what is now Garland. Originally known as Duck Creek to early settlers, The planting of the seed that developed into Garland Town, it was planted on the banks of the Duck Creek. Congressman Joe Abbott, gave the name of Garland to the town.
