Scottsdale is a city in the Arizona State of United States, borders Phoenix to the west, Tonto National Forest to the north, Tempe to the south and Carefree to the east. Scottsdale population in 2024 is estimated to be 248,184, covers city area of 184.44 sq mi (477.70 sq km), ranks fifth populous city of Arizona. Scottsdale is in the eastern part of Maricopa County, and is part of the Greater Phoenix Area, Scottsdale named in 1894 after its founder Winfield Scott, a retired U.S. Army chaplain, the Scottsdale city was incorporated with a population of 2,000 in 1951.
