Saint Paul is the capital of the U.S. state of Minnesota, located nearby the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. Minnesota largest city Minneapolis lies to the west. Towards city's west, south-west and south-east sides, the Mississippi River forms a municipal boundary. St. Paul and Minneapolis are known as Twin Cities, and forms Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Minneapolis–Saint Paul is a Combined Statistical Area, and the Greater Minneapolis and St. Paul population is estimated to be 4 million, and ranks 16 largest by CSA. Saint Pual is nicknamed as the Saintly City.
