Tacoma is the urban port city of Washington State in United States, located 32 miles southwest of Seattle, 31 miles northeast of the state capital, Olympia. Tacoma population in 2024 is estimated to be 222,867, covering city area of 62.42 sq mi (161.68 sq km), ranks third largest city of Washington and one-hundred-third populous city in the United States. Tacoma originally and locally called Takhoma or Tahoma, due to the nearby Mount Rainier. Neighborhoods of Tacoma city include the Central Tacoma, New Tacoma, Nalley Valley, Port of Tacoma and Southend. Tacoma city is the part of the Seattle-Tacoma, Combined Statistical Area, which ranks fourteenth CSA.
