Winston-Salem is a city in North Carolina State of United States, located in the northwest Piedmont area, situated 65 miles northwest of the geographic center of the NC state. Winston-Salem population in 2024 is estimated to be 257,755, covers city area of 133.82 sq mi (346.59 sq km), ranks fifth most populous city in North Carolina. Winston and Salem are the towns of the two neighboring towns of Winston and Salem, In the 1880s, the US Post Office began referring to the two towns as Winston-Salem in 1880 and in 1913 the towns are merged and called as Winston-Salem, also called the Twin City for its dual heritage. It is in Forsyth County and second largest municipality in the Piedmont Triad region.
