Iraq is a country in Western Asia, borders Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, the Persian Gulf and Kuwait to the southeast, Syria to the west, Saudi Arabia to the south and Jordan to the southwest. Iraq is home to one of the earliest civilizations in the world. Iraq population in 2024 is estimated to be 44.44 million, covers country area of 438,317 sq km (169,235 sq mi), ranks fifty-eighth country by area and the thirty-sixth most populous country in the world. Iraq capital and largest city is Baghdad and other popular cities are Mosul, Basra, Sulaymaniya, Kirkuk, Baquba, Tikrit, Erbil, Babylon and Al Nasiriya. Iraq is home to diverse ethnic groups including Arabs, Kurds, Turkmens, Assyrians, Armenians, Yazidis, Shabakis, Persians, Sabian-Mandaeans, Circassians, and Kawliya. The official languages of Iraq are Arabic and Kurdish. Country code is IRQ, Life expectancy of Iraq is 69.93 years for male and 74.97 years for female.
Other than country's majority of Muslims, other recognized religions include Christians, Yarsans, Yezidis, Zoroastrianism and Mandaeans. The Tigris and Euphrates are the two major rivers run south through Iraq and into the Shatt al-Arab near the Persian Gulf. These two rivers provide Iraq with fertile region. Mesopotamia is the popular region through out the ancient history and region is located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers

Iraq population in 1960 is 7,289,753, by 1970 the population is increased by 2,628,225 totaling to 9,917,978, by 1980 the population is increased to 13,653,348, and by 1990 the total increase of 17,419,113 in 30 years from 1960 to 1990 resulting to 17,419,113. From 1990 to 2000, population increased to 23,497,589, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of Iraq increase by 6,244,388 with a change of 26.57 percent and increase of population from 2010 to 2020 by 10,480,526 with a change of 35.24 percent and make up to 40,222,503. Iraq population in 2023 is estimated to be 43.23 million, population in 2022 is estimated to be 42 million, Population of Iraq in 2021 is estimated as 41.12 million.
