Chesapeake is the city in Virginia State of United States, located on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Chesapeake population in 2024 is estimated to be 255,485, covers city area of 351 square miles (910 km2), ranks third populous city and second-largest city by land area in the State of Virginia. Chesapeake is part of the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Chesapeake has miles of waterfront in accommodating commercial and residential property. Chesapeake is home to two Navy bases such as Northwest Annex, located in the Hickory area and NALF Fentress and home to the international Headquarters for Dollar Tree. Chesapeake ranks twentieth most dangerous cities in Virginia.
