Lowell is a city in Massachusetts, State of United States, Lowell population in 2024 is estimated to be 115,334, covers city area of 14.53 sq mi (37.63 sq km), ranks fifth largest city in Massachusetts State, two-hundred-fifty-first city in the United States. Incorporated in 1826 to serve as a mill town, Lowell was named after Francis Cabot Lowell. Lowell is located along the rapids of the Merrimack River, 25 miles northwest of Boston. Lowell population as per 2020 census is 115,554 compared to 2010 population of 106,519 with the increase number of 9,035 people and growth of 8.5 percent. Lowell is the seventeenth most dangerous cities in Massachusetts.
