Whittier (/?hw?ti?r/) is a city in Southern California in Los Angeles County, incorporated in February 1898 and became a charter city in 1955. Whittier population as per 2020 census is 87,306 compared to 2010 population of 85,331 with the increase number of 1,975 people and growth of 2.3 percent. The city is named for the American Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier.
