Maldives is an archipelagic country in the Indian subcontinent of Asia, located in the Indian Ocean, lies southwest of Sri Lanka and India. Maldives means garland island, may also derive from Sanskrit mālā means garland and dvīpa means island. Maldives population in 2024 is estimated to be 591,358, covers country area of 300 sq km (120 sq mi), ranks one-hundred-eighty-sixth country by area and the one-hundred-seventieth most populous country in the world. Its capital is Malé. Country code is MDV, Life expectancy of Maldives is 78.63 years for male and 80.76 years for female.

Maldives population in 1960 is 89,873, by 1970 the population is increased by 25,815 totaling to 115,688, by 1980 the population is increased to 158,271, and by 1990 the total increase of 223,159 in 30 years from 1960 to 1990 resulting to 223,159. From 1990 to 2000, population increased to 279,396, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of Maldives increase by 86,334 with a change of 30.90 percent and increase of population from 2010 to 2020 by 174,812 with a change of 47.80 percent and make up to 540,542. Maldives population in 2023 is estimated to be 577,109, population in 2022 is estimated to be 562,860, Population of Maldives in 2021 is estimated as 552,016.

North Province (Baa, Lhaviyani, Noonu, Raa Atolls, Felivaru)
North Central Province (Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, Kaafu and Vaavu Atolls, Malé City, Thulusdhoo)
Central Province (Dhaalu, Faafu, Meemu Atolls, Kudahuvadhoo)
South Central Province (Thaa, Laamu Atolls, Gan)
Upper South Province (Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls, Thinadhoo)
South Province (Gnaviyani Atoll, Addu City, Hithadhoo)
