Qatar is a country in Western Asia, borders Saudi Arabia to the south and rest is surrounded by the Persian Gulf. Qatar population in 2024 is estimated to be 3.11 million, covers country area of 11,581 sq km (4,471 sq mi), ranks one-hundred-fifty-eighth country by area and the one-hundred-thirty-seventh most populous country in the world. Its capital is Doha. Country code is QAT, Life expectancy of Qatar is 78.03 years for male and 76.63 years for female. Before the discovery of oil, the Qatar economy is focused on fishing and pearl hunting. Pearl hunting was the big business for Qataris in 1892 governed under Ottoman Empire. Japan introduced cultured pearl into world market in 1920, due to this by 1930, Qatar pearl industry is crashed. By 1940, Oil was discovered in Dukhan Field, The discovery was changed the Qatar economy, currently in 2022, Qatar has the high standard of living for Qatari locals. Qatar total population was 2.97 million, with 332,000 of them are local Qatari citizens and 2.63 million expatriates from 98 countries. Qatar has one of the largest reserves of petroleum and natural gas in the world and the economy is mainly dependent on gas fields, and is the fourth richest nation in the world with per capita of $89,496 in 2023.. Arabic is the official language of Qatar and English is the common language.

Qatar Population Growth

Qatar population in 1960 is 47,383, by 1970 the population is increased by 62,138 totaling to 109,521, by 1980 the population is increased to 223,622, and by 1990 the total increase of 476,275 in 30 years from 1960 to 1990 resulting to 476,275. From 1990 to 2000, population increased by 116,192 to 592,467, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of Qatar increase by 1,263,862 with a change of 213.32 percent and increase of population from 2010 to 2020 by 1,024,731 with a change of 55.20 percent and make up to 2,881,060. Qatar population in 2023 is estimated to be 3.04 million, population in 2022 is estimated to be 2.97 million, Population of Qatar in 2021 is estimated as 2.93 million.

According to psa, Qatar 2020 census, the population rose by 1,147 million as compared to census 2010, totalling the population to 2.846 million in 2020 with an increase of 67.5 percent.

Qatar Population Municipalities wise

Qatar has been divided into eight municipalities. Population density increased by 67.5 percent in 2020 census compared to 2010 census, 244.6 persons per sq km compared to 146 persons per sq km. Doha Municipality has the highest growth in terms of density with 5,344 people per sq km compared to 3,590 people per sq km in 2010 census, Umm Salal Municipality with 471 people per sq km, Al-Rayyan Municipality with 337 people per sq km.

Foreign workers amount to around 85% to 90% of the population, Qatar population by Nationality, the largest group of which comprise South Asians, More than 700 thousand are estimated from India alone, followed by Bangladeshis and Nepalese around 400 thousand, Egyptians and Filipinos accounts for 300 thousand and 236 thousand, Pakistanis of around 150 thousand and Sri Lankans of 130 thousand.
