South Sudan is a landlocked country in northeastern Africa, borders Sudan to the north, Ethiopia to the east, Kenya, Uganda to the south, the Democratic Republic of Congo to the southwest and the Central African Republic to the west, Prior South Sudan was part of Sudan, gained independence from Sudan in 2011. South Sudan population in 2023 is estimated to be 11.75 million, covers country area of 644,329 sq km (248,777 sq mi), ranks forty-first country by area, the eighty-second most populous country in the world and is the seventh poorest nation in the world. Its capital is Juba and other popular cities are Wau, Malakal, Yambio, Yei, Renk, Aweil, Maridi, Bentiu and Bor. Juba ranks one of the most dangerous city in Africa. Country code is SSD, Life expectancy of South Sudan is 60.83 years for male and 64.84 years for female. Ethnic groups are Dinka, Nuer, Bari, Azande and Shilluk. South Sudan official language is English, Juba and Arabic are popular spoken languages.

South Sudan population in 1960 is 2,842,718, by 1970 the population is increased by 651,293 totaling to 3,494,011, by 1980 the population is increased to 4,502,603, and by 1990 the total increase of 5,492,620 in 30 years from 1960 to 1990 resulting to 5,492,620. From 1990 to 2000, population increased by 706,776 to 6,199,396, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of South Sudan increase by 3,308,976 with a change of 53.38 percent and increase of population from 2010 to 2020 by 1,685,357 with a change of 17.72 percent and make up to 11,193,729. Pibor area and Ruweng area is an administrative areas in South Sudan, The Abyei area is located on the border between South Sudan and the Sudan that has been given special administrative status of the Abyei Conflict in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
